BEST STUDY SOURCES FOR PRE-NURSING/NURSING MAJORS: A Guide That is Well Needed
IF someone had a list of study resources at the start of my pre-nursing journey, that would of been reallyyyy helpful (now wouldn't it). But, let bygones be bygones because I am a nursing student today. However, I thought it would be fair to share some of the best study resources for pre-nursing AND nursing majors. In this article I will list several websites, apps, and other sources that are helpful towards those rigorous science courses. I will categorize them by "Websites," "Apps," and "Testing." I will also include a description of all the sources, and label if I used any of them, so you can choose the best one for you. I hope this helps you a ton! And I hope that you can reference this to your other pre-nursing/nursing peers so that we can all succeed together!

Websites:
This website is such a good website, I do not even know how it is free (but who cares)! It has almost any subject you can think of, with in-depth tutorial videos and practice problems. It has Anatomy & Physiology, Chemistry, Math, Microbiology, History, and many other subjects. Highly recommended for difficult subjects.
If you do not know about Quizlet, you have been living under a rock (just kidding). But, this website is great for a quick way to retain tons of information. When there was a hard concept to grasp in one of my science courses, I went to Quizlet to get a summary to help me understand the material. You can also do practice quizzes on here, and create a study guide for yourself too!
Now readers, I will need you to keep this website a secret. This is a labeling website that my university used for A&P 2 only. Not A&P 1. It was extremely helpful in testing your knowledge on the cardiovascular system, renal system, respiratory system, digestive system, urinary system, and reproductive system. Consider this website a freebie from me. (You’re welcome).
Although this is not a study website, it is one of THE MOST helpful blogs that literally answers all questions about pre-nursing, nursing, and even beyond nursing school. If you are lucky, you may even find a discussion forum about a particular nursing school you may be applying for, and actually read other people’s responses, or chat with other people. Through this website, I was able to read who was applying to my school’s nursing program and what TEAS scores and GPAs they all had. All you have to do is search your school name with “allnurses” in Google and see if a discussion forum pops up!
Apps
*1 Quizlet
The same format as the website, but now on the go! Available on App Store and Google Play Store (for Android users).
1,2 Visual Anatomy Lite
This is a great interactive app that has all parts of the body labeled at your convenience. It also includes short descriptions of each body part, even for muscles, it includes the origins and insertions. There is a full version for this app, but the free version contains almost everything you need to know for A&P lab. Available in App Store only.
1 Visual Anatomy Free
The same app as the Visual Anatomy Lite, but just a different name in the Google Play Store.
*1 Khan Academy
The same format as the website, but now in app form! Available on App Store and Google Play Store.
1 Chemistry & Homework
For my readers who are taking chemistry, this is a great app right here. It has the periodic table, balancing equations, molar mass, and more. This was the best app I can find, so check it out! Available in App Store only.
1 Chemistry Lab
Similar to Chemistry & Homework app, but available in the Google Play Store only.
1,2 Nursing by Unbound
1, 2 Picmonic
1,2 NCLEX RN
These are a few highly rated nursing apps that I have recently downloaded. I have not used them yet, but I wanted to share them just in case there are any nursing student readers that want to try out a study app. All are available in the App Store and Google Play Store. Picmonic may look different on Androids, but serves the same function as on other devices. FYI, some (or all) the apps listed for nursing students can be pricey, if you decide to buy the full version. So, keep that in mind.
Testing
Great TEAS study website with multiple practice question in Reading, Math, Science, and English. It also has flashcards as well.
This TEAS study website actually has full number of practice questions for each exam which is great if you want to test how you would do on the TEAS with a full free practice exam.
If you have taken the TEAS exam before, or planning to take it soon, then you may be familiar with this website. This is the website you may register through for your exam. If you do not mind spending some money, you can purchase ATI’s practice tests, as well as other TEAS study guides to ensure that you make a perfect score!
As stated in my “HESI A2 Exam Series,” I have not taken the HESI before, but I did my research and found that these are some of the best free websites to study from for your HESI A2. I may not know the test, but I do know that these websites are free!
